Things Good To Know

This page will have the assumption or the convention we are using to display notes in proper format(e.g.Komal/Shudha/Teevra) and the appropriate position in terms of Taal (e.g. matra full/half/1/4 etc.)
Komal Swars are shown with slash before the letter
Like /R, /G, /D, /N
Teevra swar is shown by slash after the letter like M/
Swars in higher octane (taar saptak) are shown with (') above the letter
Like R' G' M' P' and /R', /G', /D', /N' M'/
Swars in lower octane (Mandra saptak) are shown with lower case letters
Like r,g,d,n,m, and /r, /g, /d/, /n, m/

So all 13 notes will look like
Sa = S ,
Re(k) = /R  (Re Komal)
Re = R,
Ga(k) =/G  (Ga Komal
Ga = G,
Ma = M
M(t) = M/
Pa = P
Dha(k) = /D (Dha Komal)
Dha = D
Ni(k) = /N  (Ni Komal)
Ni = N
SA = S'

Introduction

Welcome to our blog!
This blog is dedicated to music lovers from all over the world. Here, we will try our best to post notations of the items we posted on our other blog learnraagabasics.blogspot.com. The notation for any item will be from the books we have been following. The hard thing for us is how to format it so that we can accommodate the requirements of Komal, Shudha and Teevra Surs (Notes) in 3 different Saptaks (Mandra, Madhya and Taar Saptak).
Also to show taal for these items in an user-friendly way. Please go through Things Good to Know page to get the basic understanding of terms used throughout this blog site. Please visit the List of Raagas page. Click on the name of any Raag which will take you to the learning material on that Raag. We will keep upgrading the material on this blog as we progress.

Thank you for visiting our blog.
 & Happy Singing!
